Miles Kane – Darkness In Our Hearts

Miles Kane is back with a live video for “Darkness in Our Hearts,” another scorcher off his forthcoming album Don’t Forget Who You Are, out June 4.

Infusing a bit of a Strokes guitar riff into his big British rock sound, Kane’s got even more energy than usual. “Darkness in Our Hearts” is a good sign that his sophomore album won’t disappoint.

Stream the video below, and in case you missed it, the title track is below as well.

Miles Kane – The First Of My Kind

In case you missed Miles Kane’s latest single like me, have a listen to “The First of My Kind” from his forthcoming EP, which is set to drop on April 21st.

Not much of a departure from his Colour of The Trap LP, but that’s certainly nothing to complain about given the fact that it was such a killer album. Rife with a mod 60’s pop feel, monstrous Bond-esque trumpets, catchy guitar lines, and of course Kane’s Lennon-infected vocals, “The First Of My Kind” will definitely be on repeat for the rest of the day – and week.

Stream the studio version or watch it live from a recent gig at Olympia.

Miles Kane – A Girl Like You Cover

In advance of his debut solo album, Miles Kane recently released a cover of Edwyn Collin’s “A Girl Like You.”

What a flashback! I haven’t heard this song in ages.

Kane opts to stray a bit from the original by slowing the tempo down a bit and adding some dark atmospherics, but overall I’d say it’s pretty true to the original.

On a side note, I’m quite excited about the upcoming release of Kane’s solo album Colour Of The Trap, which will be out on May 9th.

Also, if you haven’t heard any of the tracks off the new album check out “Inhaler.”

Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t post a link to the original Edwyn Collins version.

Enjoy the flashback.

Miles Kane – Come Closer

Check out the latest sneak peak at Miles Kane’s first solo album, due out on February 21st, 2011.

“Come Closer” has the same 60’s inspired sound of The Last Shadow Puppets but it maintains aggressiveness of his guitar from his Rascals days. His sound has mellowed a bit with catchy pop hooks and he really runs with the retro sound, embellishing it with doo wop back up vocalists.

It seems that this 60’s inspired rock sound that began with The Last Shadow Puppets is a continuing thread in his music. Although, he might have a bit of competition from Liam Gallagher and Oasis, I mean Beady Eye, and their whole 60’s inspired rock sound (see my previous post).

Not to be outdone, Miles Kane announced that Noel Gallagher will make a guest appearance on a track called “My Fantasy,” while Kane will play guitar on Noel Gallagher’s own solo album.

I am super amped for his forthcoming album, so far the sneak peeks we’ve gotten have been pretty encouraging. Simply see Exhibit A— Inhaler and of course, Exhibit B – the subject of today’s post the recently released video to “Come Closer” which is below.

Here’s the fantastic live studio version.
