White Blush – Mirror

While it seems like everybody and their mother is experimenting with vintage synths and ethereal vocals, LA’s White Blush aka Carol Rhyu is a welcome addition to the ever-widening realm of moody dream pop.

On her debut self-titled EP, a dense fog of 80’s-tastic synths, lurking malice, and pulsing rhythms coalesce around her sultry whisper to form a distant vision of a cold Blade Runner-esque world.  Particular standouts include the darkly danceable “Juice of My Heart,” the swirling “Mirror,” and “Jolene,” which pays homage to Dolly Parton’s classic.

If Wild Nothing, Chromatics, and Exitmusic are your jam, you’ll definitely want to have ear sex with the White Blush EP. Stream it below or head over to bandcamp to snag your copy.
