Filthy Boy – Mental Conditions

Those cheeky English lads, Filthy Boy, have just released “Mental Conditions,” the lead single from their debut LP Smile That Won’t Go Down, which drops next month.

Contrasting a nice stripped back Roy Orbison-esque arrangement with their trademark hysterically debauched lyrics, these chaps are at their twisted best. Over dreamy dulcet guitars, vocalist Patrick Morrissey retells the story of a mad man. With his Alex Kapranos baritone, he belts out lyrics like, “I found a real looker, she’s a nice high class hooker,” “They say it’ll all be okay as long as I take these tablets every day, hooray,” and “They say I’m unsuitable to join society, but they’ll see.”

Filthy Boy - Jimmy Jammies

Have you heard the new Filthy Boy tune yet? If not, it’s time to get on it.

Those hilariously depraved chaps from London have done it again, dropping another sexually unhinged single. “Jimmy Jammies” is dripping with sleaze as singer Paraic Morrisey lustily whispers his wickedest geriatric  desires over a heavy marching beat that never quite reaches an explosive climax, instead it sort of fizzles and emits a quiet a death rattle, not unlike a septuagenarian in the sack far past his sexual prime.

AA Loves - Filthy Boy

With two band members going by the name of Morrissey, these saucy south Londoners more than live up to their namesake.

Putting a riotously hilarious spin on tragedy, Filthy Boy details with lucid clarity humanity’s worst transgressions primarily in regards to the opposite sex. Dark, yet with a massive dose of cheeky irony, this lot will have you rolling on the floor despite the gloomy subject matter.

For instance, on “Waiting On the Doorstep” in a deep a deep baritone reminiscent of Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand they croon, “You’re looking pretty through the window magnificently kneeling between those men/I can’t help but think your lips are so soft as you get up off your knees and wipe your chin.”

Stream “Waiting On the Doorstep” along with a few other choice selections, or head over to their bandcamp to score some free downloads.
